Obituary of Homer M. Shirley
ELGIN - Funeral service for Homer Moore Shirley, 92, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lugoff Church of God with burial to follow in Wateree Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Paul Miles will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.
Mr. Shirley died August 26, 2011. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Foy Spayne and Jessie Moore Shirley. He served in the United States Army during WW II. He retired from Kendall where he was a supply supervisor.
Surviving are his wife of 7 years, Beatrice B. Shirley; sons, Grayson (Sharon) Shirley of Pineville, Ky., Rev. Joel (Sebrena) Shirley of Gastonia, N.C., and Rev. Tim (Vickie) Shirley of Camden, S.C.; daughter, Phyllis (Bill) Ragar of North Ft. Myers, Fla.; sisters, Frances Cameron of Camden, S.C., and Agnes Sinclair of Florence, S.C.; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 18 great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillie Belle Shirley; brothers, Ansel Shirley, Ralph Shirley and Marvin Shirley; sisters, Zaeda Davis, Verda Sullivan, and Mabel Ayers
