ELGIN – Phyllis June Ross, 65, died Saturday, August 20, 2011. Born in Newberry, She was a daughter of the late Jonas and Bertha Haltiwanger Amick. She retired from Westinghouse. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Elgin. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, her puppies, but most of all time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, David Duncan Ross; daughters, Dianna Scruggs of Chapin, and Crystal Henson (Sean) of Greenville; son, David William Ross of Elgin; brother, J.A. Amick; sister, Wilmae Stockman; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Larry Amick and Heyward Amick; and sisters, Alma Pace and Doris Bush. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
