Obituary of Wilburn Hazel Baker
CAMDEN - Funeral services for Wilburn Hazel Baker, 80, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Wayne Flowers will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Mr. Baker died Tuesday August 9, 2011. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late Hazel Wilburn and Alta Horton Baker. He retired from DuPont after 35 years. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and was known as “Catfish Baker” to his friends.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Mae Baker; sons, George “Mack” Baker (Cheryl) of Columbia, Wilburn “Bruce” Baker of Camden, Ronald Baker of Winston, Ga.; daughter, Sara Ruth Vaughn (Robert) of Lugoff; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Amos Baker of Hawaii; and sister, Catherine Evans (Milton) of Sumter. He was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Baker.
