CAMDEN – Emily S. Arthur of Camden, SC passed away June 30, 2013. She was born in 1924, in Hendersonville, NC to Belvin Cornelius Shipman, Sr. and Alice Jennings Shipman. After growing up in Augusta, GA she married the love of her life, Willis Arthur, 64 years ago and followed as his career took him to North Augusta, SC and eventually Camden, SC. She was a devoted wife and mother of her two children who always had a smile for everyone. Emily was a member of First Baptist Church of Camden for over 40 years. She was a member of numerous church groups that supported many activities in the community. She and Willis loved traveling with the church Young at Heart group until recent years of failing health. As her health declined, she and Willis were inseparable as she relied more heavily on his support. Emily is survived by her son Randy, his wife Jane, and grandchildren Abby and Jake, all of Charlotte, NC, and granddaughter Hilary Arthur of Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis, daughter Kristina and her two brothers. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Camden at 11 o’clock on July 3, 2013. Powers Funeral Home of Lugoff is assisting the family.
