Obituary of Steve Alton Hall
ELGIN - Funeral service for Steve Alton Hall, 64, will be held Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia. The Rev. Todd Warnock will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 till 12:00, just prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans.
Steve passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 after an extended illness. Born in Aiken, he was a son of the late James and Romer (Johnson) Hall. He was retired from the US Army after twenty-four years of service to his country. He was a member of the Dentsville Masonic Lodge #398 in Columbia and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Barbara Massengale Hall; three children, Rick Hall of Grover, N.C., John Donahue (Lisa) of Blacksburg, and Beth Granger (Matthew) of Elgin; two sisters, Velma Marchetti of Ninety-Six and Betty Baughman of Aiken; two brothers, James Hall of Gaffney and Larry Hall of Grover, N.C.; three grandchildren, Courtney Donahue, John Donahue, Jr., and James Donahue. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Keith Hall; and sister, Linda Faye Hall, who died in infancy.
