Obituary of Jacqueline F. Branham

ELGIN - Jacqueline Finnell Branham, 71, passed away quietly amongst friends and family after a brief illness sustained from cardiac arrest. Jackie, who was affectionately known as “Mimi”, was the widow of the late Ira Floyd Branham. She was born in Sanford, Fla., to the late John “Jack” C. Finnell and Vivienne W. Finnell on January 27, 1940. She spent her youth in Augusta Ga., where she graduated from Richmond Academy in 1958. Following graduation, she began a tenured career at then, Southern Bell Telephone as an operator where she spent a dedicated 39 years working in various capacities until her retirement in 1997. However, retirement was not part of Mimi's vocabulary. She found constant activity each moment of her life and rarely did she find solace in rest. Mimi was an extremely dedicated and loyal woman who put her family (especially her grandchildren) first. She never hesitated to help and listen when things were difficult to those around her. Mimi's adult life was spent at the family home in Elgin nurturing her “grand babies”, gardening, reading, tanning by her swimming pool and watching The Mimi Movie Network, occasionally known as the Lifetime Movie Network. Mimi also belonged to Smyrna United Methodist Church, a second home and family she loved very much. The world is less one wonderful and most special mother, grandmother and friend. Those who were close to her and knew of her will smile at the mention of her name, the thought of her thriftiness, and the dedication of her love. She was always conscious of the way others felt and her time with us was way too brief. Words cannot be penned to measure her life and her love. Her time here was spent with sons, Timothy “Timbo” Branham, Jody Styron, Tim Branham (Susan), Dale Branham (Kim); daughter, Stacey Yates (Jeremy); grandchildren, Alexa and Daniel Branham, Sawyer and Scout Styron, Cole and Katelyn Yates, Christy Clark, Matthew Clark, Mette' Jenkins, and Issabella Branham; special aunt, Dovie Wingard; her family at Smyrna United Methodist Church; and not to forget her special friends at home, Mini, Skeeter, Nessie, Mr. Kitty, and Snookie. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scout Troop 316 at St. John’s United Methodist Church or Smyrna United Methodist Church.
