LUGOFF – Funeral service for Walter Bruno Geloewski, 74, will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazerene, 901 Saint Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29210. The Rev. Paul Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to First Church of The Nazerene. Mr. Geloewski died at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Born in Staton Island, N.Y., he was a son of the late Carl and Ida Willuhn Geloewski. He served in the United States Air Force and retired in 2003 from Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Camden as Agency Manager after 31 years. Mr. Geloewski was a member of Rotary and served on the Kershaw County Library Board. He was a finances enthusiast who enjoyed giving lectures on finances. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Barbara Alice Jacob Geloewski; daughters, Allison G. Driggers (Bruce) of Irmo and Tracy Geloewski of Columbia; brother, Alfred Geloewski (Linda) of N.Y.; and grandchildren, Damien Driggers and Kourtni Driggers. He was predeceased by a brother, Erwin Geloewski; and sister, Imgard Green and Ursula Geloewski.
