LUGOFF – Funeral service for Richard Carvin “Sam” Samuels will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Dr. Chuck Everett will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave, Suite 302, Miami, FL 33133. Mr. Samuels died Friday, October 12, 2012. Born in Anderson, IN, he was the son of the late Oscar “Jack” and Mildred Carvin Samuels. Mr. Samuels was co-owner of the Salt Pond Farm and Garden. He served in the U.S. Army for 9 years, and was a member of the masons and the shriners and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Janice Davis Samuels; son Bradley Samuels (Tina) of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, John Samuels (Judy) of Anderson, IN; sisters, Connie Samuels of Indianapolis, IN, and JoAnna Samuels of South Bend, IN; and special friends, David and Jenny Treaster. He was predeceased by a brother, Jim Samuels; and special friend, Donnie Sanders.
