LUGOFF - Funeral services celebrating the life of Marian Woodell Schwartz, age 87, will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The Rev. David Robinson will officiate. A burial will follow in the Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens in Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday at Powers Funeral Home. Mrs. Schwartz, wife of the late James Edward Schwartz, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013. She was born on February 12, 1926, in Ocala, Fla. She was the daughter of the late William Otis Woodell and Edna Catherine Tiller Woodell. Ms. Schwartz was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church, where she had been very active in many phases of the church, and is well known for teaching the three-year old children’s Sunday School Class for many years. She retired from Grace Episcopal Church in Camden, SC as a Parish Secretary with 25 years of service. She is survived by three sons, William “Billy” Henry Schwartz (Cheryl) of Lugoff, S.C., Albert Edward “Eddie” Schwartz of Goose Creek, S.C., and Thomas “Tommy” Marion Schwartz (Nancy) of Orange Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy Schwartz Altman of Lugoff, SC, William “Will” Henry Schwartz, Jr. of Brunswick, Ga.; and a great-grandson, Ryan Altman of Lugoff, S.C. Also surviving are two sisters, Vera Louise Woodell Morris of San Antonio, Texas and Susanna “Sue” West Woodell Tabler (Corban) of Greenville, S.C.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ms. Schwartz was predeceased by an infant daughter, Alma Louise Schwartz; and a sister, Catherine Ruth Woodell Morris.
