Elgin - Wayne Keith Andrews, 39, passed away at his home February 23, 2011. Friends and family will celebrate his life at a memorial service. Wayne was born to Jerry and Nancy Andrews on March 16, 1971, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He graduated from Richland Northeast High School in 1989 and the University of South Carolina in 2002 with a B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Wayne worked several jobs over the course of his life, but he spent most of his time as a dedicated Kroger employee. He held many positions over his 23 years with Kroger on Forest Drive, and until his recent illness, he served as the meat market manager. Wayne will be most remembered for his good nature, infectious smile, loyal friendships and southern twang. He was a devoted Gamecock fan who avidly followed the football and baseball teams and would chat with anyone willing about the stats. When he was not working, he was spending time with friends, golfing, playing softball, watching a game, playing catch with his dog, Murphy, and enjoying time with his family. In his living there was great joy shared by those who knew him well. His simple acts of kindness touched many. His life will always be an inspiration to others to live by his humble example of treating others with kindness, warmth and generosity and loving family and friends with your whole heart. Surviving are his wife, Kristi Andrews; loving parents Jerry and Nancy Andrews, of Elgin; sister and confidant, Sonya Andrews, of Elgin and his beloved niece, Carlie, who touched his heart each and every day; brother, Tommy Koppersmith, of Mobile, AL; as well as countless relatives and friends.
