Obituary of Pauline Ray

LUGOFF - Funeral services for Pauline Ray, 82, will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church, with burial to follow at Hardshell Cemetery. Rev. Joe Stines, Rev. Charles Roark, and Rev. Doug Whitfield will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hardshell Cemetery. Mrs. Ray, the wife of the late Jonnie “Otis” Ray, died Wednesday February 16, 2011. Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Sr. and Geneva Bowers Barfield. She owned and operated Sawney’s Creek Bait and Tackle in Lugoff before she retired in 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Ann Lowman Hornsby (Roy) of Conyers, Ga., Brenda Sue Lowman Smith (Larry) of Machesney Park, IL, Linda Carol Ray Bowen (Clyde Jr.) of Lugoff; sons, Johnnie Keith Ray (Constance) and Gary Ray (Stacy) of Lugoff; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grand children; 1 great great-grandchild; brother, Edward Barfield of Temple, Ariz.; and sister, Edna Frances Barfield Cook of Winnsboro, S.C. She was predeceased by her first husband Pomeroy Lowman; brother, Donnie Barfield of Waynesboro, N.C.
