COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Rose Marie Saunders Pearce will be held on Monday, February 7th at 2:00 pm at Lexington United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff from 3-5 Sunday evening. Rose Marie passed away on February 4, 2011. She was born on June 27, 1931 in Vinton, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Roy K. Saunders, Sr. and Dora Irene Davis. She grew up in Waynesboro, Virginia and graduated from high school there in 1948. Rose was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved spending time with her family and they enjoyed many family trips together, often to the beach. She enjoyed painting and tennis, but her passion was golf. She attended Lexington United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John Lindsay Pearce; daughters, Roxanne (Mike) Martin of Lugoff, Jennifer Hammond of Atlanta, Georgia, and Donna (Gregg) Hornsby of Lexington. She had seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Jean Bright of Lebanon, New Jersey, brother Lowell Saunders of Catawba, brother Don Saunders of Rock Hill, sister Aleeta Dolge of Columbia and many other nieces, nephews and relatives. She was predeceased by her brother, Roy K. Saunders, Jr. and her infant daughter, Karen Marie Pearce. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Lexington United Methodist Church, 309 East Main Street or the American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. The family would like to thank Dr. Wise, the staff at SCOA, the caring nurses and staff on the cancer floor at Palmetto Richland and Sarah Kight for their comfort and compassion.
