LUGOFF - Funeral services for Nicolasa Catoe will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Jimmy Atkerson will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mrs. Catoe died Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Ramon and Primitiva Ortz Otero. She served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Register Nurse from Moncrief Hospital, Fort Jackson. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and the National Association for the Blind. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Thomas E. “Pete” Catoe; daughters, Bonnie Stanley (Jeff) of Elgin, Penney Reynolds (Mark) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Dena and Sydney Stanley of Elgin and Jennifer and Michael Reynolds of West Columbia; sisters, Goyeta Camacho, Herminea Jmen, and Ramona Marrero. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas E. Catoe, Jr.; brothers, Ramon Mejia, Francisco Otro; and sisters, Concepcion Torres, and Carmen Vazkuez.
