Obituary of Thomas McCaskill

Thomas McCaskill III of Oklahoma City, OK, loving father and son and MassMutual general agent, died in a car accident Sunday June 24, 2007. Best known for his boisterous love of life, family and friends, Tom passionately infused his sense of family and charity into his personal life and professional career. His unique leadership style and vision for success touched the lives of those with whom he shared personal and business relationships. His professional honors were extensive and included numerous awards and recognitions, but foremost, he will always be remembered as a generous and loving man whose personal satisfaction was most fulfilled when those around him succeeded and prospered. Born in Camden June 11, 1957, he was the son of Thomas “Mac” McCaskill, Jr. and Marian Dennis McCaskill of Lugoff. He graduated from Lugoff-Elgin High School in 1975. He attended the University of South Carolina before moving to Oklahoma in 1981. After many successful years in the hotel and restaurant industry, he joined MassMutual in 1988 and rose quickly to its highest field position. Becoming a general agent in 1996, he rescued a failing Oklahoma City MassMutual general agency by engineering its growth to a top 10 firm nationally. Not only was he successful in his career, he was the most loving, selfless father a child could ask for. Surviving in addition to his parents are two daughters, Alyson McCaskill Bush and her husband Russell of Monkey Island, OK, and Ashley McCaskill of Lawrence, KS, three sisters, Cheryl McCaskill Schwartz and husband Billy, Connie McCaskill Frith and husband Bill, and Carol McCaskill Johnson and husband Craig all of Lugoff; five nieces, two nephews and numerous aunts and uncles. Services will be held Wednesday, June 27th at 2 pm at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Lugoff. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Thomas McCaskill III memorial fund care of Nicole Gonzales, 4200 E. Skelly Dr. Suite 325, Tulsa, OK, 74135.
