Obituary of Cynthia Maples Christopher

LUGOFF – A memorial service for Cynthia Maples Christopher, 55, will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Rev. Evan Smith and Rev. Ron Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice. Mrs. Christopher died Monday, November 01, 2010. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of Billie B. Maples and the late Carolyn Geiger Maples. She was a 1973 graduate of Spring Valley High School and received her B.A Degree from Columbia College and her Master’s Degree from USC. She taught in public and private schools for more than 20 years. She enjoyed reading and crafts and was a member of Quilters of Kershaw County. She was a member of Sawneys Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Melvin Douglas Christopher; father, Billie B. Maples of Lugoff; sister, Cecelia Maples of Lugoff; mother-in-law, Noveline Christopher of Sumter; brothers-in-law, Rev. Larry Christopher (Kathy) of Sumter, and Scott Christopher (Debbie) of Florence; nieces, Helena Grace Rauch and Brittany VonDohlen; nephew, Drew Christopher; great nephew, Zane Brockington; and a godson, Will Feagin. She was predeceased by nephew, David Michael Rauch; and niece, Lyssa Rauch. The family expresses great appreciation to Dr. Susan Munn and the staff of Camden Family Care, KershawHealth and Providence Hospital for their loving care.
