LUGOFF - Funeral services for Joan Brock, 78, will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. John UMC with burial to follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia. Rev. John Mims and Rev. Barbee Parsons will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Epworth’s Children’s Home or KershawHealth Hospice. Mrs. Brock, wife of the late Rogers Ervin Brock Jr., died Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Born in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Dainy Dargan and Sudie McElveen Kirby. Mrs. Brock was a member of St. John UMC, the Golden Hearts and Maggie Lee Truesdell Circle. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling. Surviving are her son, Roger Dorland Brock of Clemson; sister-in-law, Maxine Funderburk Miles of Bethany, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Floyd Kirby, Charles Kirby, Ryan Kirby, and Dainy T. Kirby; and sisters, Vide Kirby White and Blanche Kirby Lee.
