ELGIN – A Celebration of Life Service for Elizabeth M. “Liz” Carter, 50, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Rev. Albert Ivy will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to Hospice of Tri-County. Liz, wife of the late Jeffery Carter, died Thursday, September 16, 2010. Born in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of Michael Briket and the late Jeannine Langtange Briket. She was the warranty administrator with Capitol Chevrolet in Columbia. An avid race car driver, she was a board member of the Drag Race Association of Florence. Liz had a bubbling personality always bringing a smile to those she met. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with friends. Surviving are her father, Michael Briket of Chicopee, Mass; her pets, Magnum, Dakota, and Jake; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers.
