Obituary of Alfred Andrew Crumpton
ALFRED ANDREW CRUMPTON
ELGIN – Homegoing services for Alfred Andrew Crumpton, 85, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Brian Ogburn and The Rev. Dr. Charles Everett will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church Disaster Relief Fund, 998 Tookie Doo Lane, Elgin, SC 29045.
Mr. Crumpton passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013. Born in Blaney, he was a son of the late John Jabez and Mattie Atkerson Crumpton. Mr. Crumpton was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, superintendent of Sunday school, and in the choir. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Shakespeare after 28 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Martha Branham Crumpton; daughter, Fannie Hopple (Glenn) of Elgin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Hopple of Elgin; and a sister, Cleo Daugherty of Lexington. He was predeceased by brothers, Julian Crumpton, Samuel Crumpton; and sisters, Lois Daniels, and Christine Wiedermann.
