LUGOFF - Funeral service for Charles William “Charlie” Herndon, 68, will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Charles Everett and Rev. David Robinson will officiate. Burial will be held Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Kings Mountain, N.C. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29204-2413. Mr. Herndon died Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home. Born in Kings Mountain, N.C., he was a son of the late William Alvin and Evelena Kennedy Herndon. He was co-founder of Herndon, Inc. retiring in 2008 after 42 years. He was co-founder of The North Carolina Landscape Association and a member of The International Erosion Control Association, and The Association of General Contractors. Mr. Herndon was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Frances Owens Herndon; sons, David W. Herndon of Elgin, Jeff S. Herndon and his wife, Rhonda of Lugoff, and Wesley O. Herndon and his wife, Shana of Lugoff; sisters, Carol Maddox of Charlotte, N.C., and Kathy Riley of Kings Mountain, N.C.; brother, Robert Blair Herndon of Kings Mountain, N.C.; and grandchildren, Zack Herndon, Julianne Herndon, Seth McCartney, Jordin Herndon, Sarah Herndon, Lillian Herndon, Holly Herndon, Mary Evelyn Herndon, and Luciana Herndon.
