Obituary of Margaretha Powers
RIDGEWAY – A Celebration of Life Service for Margaretha “Greta” Powers, 80, will be held Friday from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Camden-Lugoff Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Kershaw Health Hospice.
Mrs. Powers died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 3, 2013. Born in Essegg, Yugoslavia April 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Elisabeth Weinreich Jost. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9539.
Greta was a skilled seamstress and avid crafter keeping her family and friends well supplied with her beautiful creations. You could tell from her home and garden that she had a love of butterflies and roses. With her warm contagious smile and her wonderful baked goodies, Greta made her family and friends feel special – She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, John “Breezy” Powers; daughters, Rosemary Wolf of Inman, S.C., Patricia Fridell of Minneapolis, MN; son, Robert Wolf (Jennifer) of Pontiac, MO; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings; Maria, Rosalia, Magdalena, Eva, Elisabeth. She was predeceased by a son, Frank Wolf; a daughter, Lynda Deming; and siblings Josef, Antun, Ana, Gertrut.
