Obituary of Lorraine Murphy Holliday
LUGOFF - Funeral service for Lorraine Patricia Murphy Holliday, 62, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Charles Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Holliday, wife of the late Washington Chuck Holliday, died Thursday, July 1, 2010. Born in Lugoff, she was a daughter of the late Leslie Murphy Jr. and Corlene Rosetta Murphy. She retired from John Deer in Pontiac, S.C. She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church where she served as former church secretary, usher board member, and sang in the senior choir and concert choir. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Surviving are her children, Vincent Holliday of Columbia, Veronica Holliday of Camden, Valerie Holliday Brown (Arthur) of Lugoff, Vandell Holliday of Lugoff, and Vanesha Holliday of Lugoff; sisters, Jacqueline Foster (Eddie) of Greensboro, N.C., and Jennifer Mitchell of Lugoff; brothers, Ernest Murphy (Susan) of Lugoff, Joseph Murphy (Shirley) of Camden, Darrel Murphy (Linda) of Elgin, Raymond Murphy (Ann) of Lugoff, Wallace Murphy (Terris) of Burlington, N.C., and Tony Murphy of Lugoff; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
