Obituary of Ronald Warren

LUGOFF-Funeral service for Ronald Matthew “Ron” Warren, 78, will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Camden with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Bruce Hancock and Rev. Brent Kendall will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Camden. Mr. Warren died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his home. Born in Henry County, Va., he was a son of the late Thomas Jackson and Lillie Ann Bell Warren. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He received his B.S. Degree in Chemistry from V.P.I. in Blacksburg, Va. He began his career with DuPont in 1960 having worked in Waynesboro, Va., Chattanooga Tenn., Old Hickory Tenn., and retired as Superintendent from May Plant in Camden in 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Camden where he served as Sunday School Teacher, member of the Silvertones choir, and Deacon. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Shirley Faye Lackey Warren; daughters, Rhonda Leigh Warren of Lugoff, Carey Warren Way (Jerry) of Lugoff; and Tracy Warren Gunn (Tim) of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Jack Warren (Mary) of Atlanta, Ga., and Tom Warren (Saundra) of Harrisonburg, Va.; sisters, Phyllis Warren Compton (Aubrey) of Stoneville, N.C., and Priscilla Warren Via (Johnny) of Ridgeway, Va.; grandchildren, Lauren Way Smith (Jason), Amanda Way Roberts (Johnny), Emily Christine Gunn, Alexander Warren Gunn, and Amy Elise Gunn; great-grandchildren, Kourtney Roberts, Ryleigh Roberts, Haylee Roberts, Ty Smith, and Kyle Smith. He was predeceased by brothers, Donald Warren and Daryl Warren.
