ELGIN-Graveside service for Marvia Mattox Brazell, 85, will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Flessas will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mrs. Brazell, wife of the late Herman A. Brazell, died Monday, May 17, 2010. Born in Blythewood, she was a daughter of the late Henry James and Kate Kelly Mattox. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are her daughters Pamela (Bob) Johnson of Elgin, and Patricia (Frank) Nelson of Elgin; sisters, Mary “Polly” Raines of Blythewood and Lil Loner of Blythewood; brothers, Thomas Ed Mattox of Lexington and Jack Mattox of Blythewood; 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Ruben Mattox, Ben Mattox, Charles Mattox, and John Mattox; and sister, Berneese Kelly. The family expresses special thanks to caregiver Leslie McCaa and Palmetto Health Richland Hospice.
