ELGIN-Funeral service for Paul Hermon “BopBop” Smith, 72, will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia. Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. Serving as active pallbearers will be Clyburn Hinson, Jr., Earl Hinson, Eugene Hinson, Barry Glover, Dean Glover, and Walter Fulmer. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 pm. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to El-Bethel Faith Community Church. Mr. Smith died Sunday, February 14, 2010. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late B.D. and Helen Williams Smith. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Bi-Lo on Two Notch Road after 22 years. He was a Mason and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Mary Branham Smith; children, Clyburn Hinson, Jr. (Sharon), Earl Hinson (Charlene), Eugene Hinson (Judy), Sheran Jackson (Cary), and Angela Peake (Larry O’Quinn); daughter-in-law, Lisa Hinson; sister, Carolyn Glover of Columbia; nephews, Barry Glover of Columbia and Dean Glover of Elgin; niece, Tonya Fulmer of Columbia; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Steve Hinson; and grandson, Clyburn Hinson, III.
