COLUMBIA - Funeral service with Full Military Honors for Ralph Edward Shirley, 92, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at North Trenholm Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia. Rev. Joe Copeland and Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to North Trenholm Baptist Church. Mr. Shirley, husband of the late Louise Beatson Shirley, died Friday, February 5, 2010. Born in Camden S.C. he was a son of the late Spain and Jessie Moore Shirley. He retired from the United States Army in 1971 at the rank of Master Sergeant, served during WW II, and served two tours of duty during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Scholl of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Martha Shirley of Blue Springs MO; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Shirley of Columbia; sisters, Agnes Sinclair of Florence and Frances Cameron of Camden; and a brother, Homer Shirley (Bea) of Elgin; five grandchildren and seven great grand children. He was predeceased by a son, Ralph Brent Shirley; brothers, Ansel Shirley, and Marvin Shirley; sisters, Zaeda Davis, Verda Sullivan, and Mabel Ayers; and a grandson, Brent Shirley.
