LUGOFF - Funeral service for Gilbert H. Furniss, 60, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at House of Prayer with Open Arms Church, Kershaw, with burial to follow in Boonetown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Furniss went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 26, 2007. Born in Richmond, Va., he was a son of the late John and Gladys Furniss of Camden and the late Harry and Shirley Cumberland of Keyser, W.V. He was a member of House of Prayer with Open Arms Church, Kershaw. Surviving are his wife, Alice Furniss; sons, Buster and Ricky Furniss of Dillon, Allen Furniss of Elgin, and Abie Furniss of Lugoff; daughter, Gladys Ray of Cassatt; brothers, John and Gibby Furniss , both of Lugoff, and Danny Cumberland of Virginia; sister, Kate Sheetz of Buffalo Mills, Pa.; and eleven grandsons and two granddaughters. Gilbert left this earth loved by many and will be missed by all.
