My husband, Bill Metcalf, worked with "Dub" during his apprenticeship as electrician at M.B. Haynes Electric Company. Dub was a wonderful role model and Bill went on to be one of the greatest electricians in Buncombe County. He worked for several companies when he was younger and then for Ridgcrest Conference Center and his last years were spent at Black Mountain Neuro Trauma Center. He ofter referred to things Dub told him and taught him. He used everything he taught him. He loved spending time with the Mills Family and our daughters loved him like a Grandpa.Bill referred his time with Dub as "The good old days". Bill went to heaven a year ago after a 3 month battle with cancer at the age of 63. I know he and Dub are rejoicing together. Those 2 men touched many lives and their legacies will live forever. They were both full of laughter and made work seem like play. God will sustain us through these losses and I pray He will give you comfort as He has me.

Sorry to here about the lost of Dub, he was a good friend and mentor for a geat number of people here at Haynes Electric. In fact due to conversations with Dub on a job site years ago is the reason why I applied and started to work at Haynes.
He truely love to fish, one night a freind and I showed up at his house to go fishing in company truck, and i took us a while to convence Dub that it would be okay, what we did not tell him was that we had received a service call that had to be handle on the way over to his house and we had received premission from our Boss to us the company truck afterwards to go fishing. What we did not know was that Dub would keep us out until day light the next morning. He would not leave until we ran out of bait. Monday morning it was all over the company that we had used company truck to take him fishing.
My God bless Dub family as I'm sure his in Heaven smiling down at all of us.

Dub and the men of his generation had a huge impact on the lives of many of the leaders we have at Haynes Electric today. He modeled and haded down a great attitude toward people and our trade. He was both a craftsman and a leader by example. You have my deepest sympathy in your loss. May the God of all comfort be with you.

I want to extend my sympathy to the Mills Family. I had the pleasure of working with Dub in the 1970's at M B Haynes. His sense of humor was one of the things I enjoyed and remember most about him. It's been years since he retired from our company but I'll always remember him as the one finest of people. I'm sure he be missed by many.

We enjoyed the brief time we had with Mr. Mills. He was a joy to be around and get to know. Highlights of my day was when I came to the Mills home to care for Mr. Mills. (Dub) He made work feel like play, he brought love, happiness and joy to my life. I hope I gave at least a tenth of it back. We love him and he lives on in our hearts. The family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
