Obituary of James W. Robinson

CAMDEN - James William Robinson, 92, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Born in Harrison, New Jersey, he was a son of the late James William and Mary McGuire Robinson. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Air Force as a tail gunner on a B-25 bomber. He completed seventy combat missions in the European Theatre of Operations, and was awarded the Air Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, with two bronze stars, and the Eastern Service Medal. Upon returning from combat, he served as gunnery instructor at Tyndall Field, Panama City, Florida until his discharge from service. He retired from DuPont in Camden in 1983, where he was employed as Control Equipment Mechanic for thirty-one years. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Robinson; sons, Douglas Robinson of Camden and Donald Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Bob Robinson and Tom Robinson, both of New Jersey; sisters, Cecelia Camara of New Jersey, Eleanor Norris of Ohio, and Helen Larsson of Florida; and two grandchildren of Atlanta and one grandchild of Camden. Service to celebrate Mr. Robinson’s life will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
