Graveside service for Ronald (Ron) M. Johnson, 65, of Beaufort, formerly of Camden, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the CurePSP, Society of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Suite 906, 11350 McCormick Rd., Hunt Valley, MD 21031. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, December 6, 2009. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Martha Johnson. Mr. Johnson graduated from Camden High School in 1962, where he played on the Bulldog football team. He worked for DuPont for a number of years before entering Clemson University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in forestry. Mr. Johnson was employed by International Paper, formerly Union Camp, for 26 years, retiring in 2002. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Beaufort. Mr. Johnson held a real estate license with American Forestry Management. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters, a past board member of the South Carolina Forestry Association and Area Chairman of TOP LOGGER training. He was a past member of SCFA Distinguished Service Award Committee, past member of SC Foresters Council, past member of the Governor’s Forest Disaster Council and past member of SAF/ACF Professional Oversight Committee. He was predeceased by his brother, William Gerald (Jerry) Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth (Liz) von Keller Johnson of Beaufort, S.C.; son, Jason “Jake” Keller Johnson of Charleston; brother, Michael Timothy Johnson of Lenoir, N.C. and three nieces and one nephew.
