Obituary of George Wingard

CAMDEN-Funeral service for George Michael “Mack” Wingard, 64, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lugoff Church of God with burial to follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tim Shirley will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the Lugoff Church of God Steeple Fund or the American Heart Association. Mr. Wingard died Friday, November 13, 2009. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harry “Giggs” Wingard, Sr. and Myrlene Lee Hogan. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry Wingard, Jr. Mr. Wingard retired from DeRoyal where he was an electrician. He was a member of Lugoff Church God. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed NASCAR, football and the mountains. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Ann Davis Wingard; children, Georgie (Phillip) Elswick of Florence, Brandee (Eddie) Hornsby of Camden, Kevin Wingard and his fiancée, Laura Beth Hunter of Camden, and Jennifer (Jordan) Garrett of Camden; brothers, Billy Hogan of Camden; grandchildren, Katelin Wingard, Baylee Hornsby, Kasie Hornsby, Stefanie Hornsby, Dasia Elswick, and Destany Elswick; and his two beloved dogs, Flip and Bandit.
