ELGIN - Memorial service for Meredith Reed Jones, Jr., 70, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to gather for the service at the funeral home and stay to visit. Mr. Jones died Thursday, November 5, 2009. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Meredith Reed Jones, Sr. and Rosalia Lee Jones. He worked as an insurance adjustor. He was a food connoisseur. His family enjoyed his wonderful hospitality and great sense of humor. His interests included knowledge of military aircraft and weaponry, extensive reading, and traveling. It gives his family great pleasure to know he recently had the opportunity to pursue his greatest enjoyment the restoration of an antique truck. He also has an extensive collection of model cars that reminded him of different periods of his life. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dorothy Jones; sons, Kevin Reed (Leslie) Jones of Ga., and Stephen Michael Jones of Florida; daughters, Lynne Marie Jones of Florida, Kristen Leigh Neihoff of Florida, and Amy Michelle Jones of Florida; step-sons, Nicholas Buchko of South Carolina, and John Buchko of South Carolina; sister, Lee Anne Jones of New York; and numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Tracy Ann Simpson.
