Dear family,
I picked up an old newspaper and glanced at the names in the odituary section before tossing it out. The name "Solesbee" caught my eye since my dad had a cousin who married a Solesbee and had a son named Charles so I looked it up and found, sadly, that it was him. My dad was Rev. James Howard, Dewey to the family, and I seem to remember he was involved in your wedding somehow. I am the youngest child and have memories of coming to their house when I was very young. They are good memories and I want you to know that I am sorry for your loss.
I will pass the news of Charles' passing on to the rest of the family and hope that you will take comfort in knowing that he is fine now, reunited with family and waiting for the day you will be together again.

Cindy, Ashley & Allison, our thoughts and prayers are sent from our hearts to your family. Chief will forever live on just by his very nature. I know God has the best darn PA with him now in Heaven. Charlie has touched so many lives in such a positive way I cannot begin to say the impact he had on mine. Cindy, I don’t know if you remember me, Charlie and I served together in the 5/187th, he took me fishing and feed me at your house many times. He is a husband, father, son, and soldier of the best silk. His presence I am sure will be missed, however all of us are a testament that he lives on.

Of all the people in the world, I never would have believed it was our Charlie's time to go. I can still see him running down the beach at Garden City with my son and their fishing gear in 1970's. I'm glad daddy is gone because this would have broken his heart for sure. Don't forget that we love you, Aunt Martha, Uncle Gene and girls. You are always in our prayers and we cry with you. God bless you and hold you till we meet again.

Cindy, Words can't express the saddness I felt when I heard the news of Charlie's untimely passing. I have many fond memories of fishing and hunting with Charlie while we were assigned to Ft. Campbell in the early 80's. He was one of the few must see people that I would count on seeing at the SAPA conferences. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. I'll bet he is fishing in Heaven.
