CASSATT - A memorial service for Rev. Carlton Leroy Powers, 81, will be held Monday at 11 am at Lakeshore Drive Church of God. Rev Chad Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Drive Church of God Youth Department or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Rev. Powers died Friday, October the 16, 2009. Born in Adel, Ga., he was a son of the late Weston C Powers and Toye Weeks Powers. He served in the United States Army during WW II. He was a retired minister and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Julia S Powers; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Fay Powers of Florida, Carl Randal (Randy)and Arlene Powers of Texas, James Ronnie and Paula Powers of Washington, and Jeffery Dale and Michelle Powers of Florida; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Thom Brett of Florida, Sonya and Rich Triplett of Texas and, Kathey and Kirk Keys of Florida; step-sons, Don Smith of Camden, Chris Smith and his wife, Renee of Ga.; brother, Columbus (Chris)Powers and his wife, Cora of Ga.; sisters, Jean Lewis of Ga., Hilda Holton of Ga., Margaret Flowers of Ga., and Eva Nell King and her husband, Sherwood of Ga.; grandchildren, Sharon, Brian, Randal Carl, Charles, Megan, Brett, Drew, Thomas, Kristina, Allison, Mary, Reba, and Christopher; step-grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Aubree, Elisa, and Collyn; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.. He was predeceased by his sister, Essie Mae Tucker; and his first wife of thirty eight years and the mother of his children, Katheleen Lane Powers.
