ELGIN - Graveside service for Shirley A. Hudson, 72, will be held Monday at 5:00 p.m. in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Kershaw County. Mrs. Hudson, wife of the late Thomas Andrew Hudson, died Friday, October 02, 2009. Born in Corinth, Miss., she was a daughter of the late Howard Lilly and Reba Inez White Cooper. She retired from Pine Grove School in 2003. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Elgin Congregation. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, sewing, and crafts. Mrs. Hudson loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Surviving are her daughters, Patsy Gail Hudson Ashcraft and her husband, Ron of Sumter, Deborah Hudson Tarpley and her husband, James of Aiken, Donna Lynn Hudson and her husband, Bernard Boneparte of Lugoff, and Rebecca Dianne Hudson Jones and her husband, Jake Simon of Elgin; and grandchildren, Jamie Hudson, Ryan Ashcraft, Stacey Ashcraft, Stephen Boneparte, Tiffany Simon, and Hunter Jones. She was predeceased by a son, James Gregory Hudson; brother, Jerry White; and sister, Jane Hudson.
