COLUMBIA - Graveside service for Martha M. Bruffey, 86, formerly of Kinston, N.C., will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Kinston, N.C. Memorials may be made to Armenia Christian Church or a charity of one’s choice. Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, is assisting the family locally. Mrs. Bruffey, wife of the late Vernon J. Bruffey, died Monday, April 9, 2007. Born in Fairbluff, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Shepherd and Etta Small Morgan. She retired from as a buyer for Oliver-Turner Men’s Store. She was past president of Southwood P.T.A., and was a member of Armenia Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and directed the choir. Surviving are her sons, Leonard H. Bruffey of Mechanicsville, Va., Billy M. Bruffey of Pacific Grove, Calif., Vernon R. “Pete” Bruffey of Fairfax, Va., and Thurman B. Bruffey of Columbia; daughters, Cheryl Bruffey Baker and Millie Bruffey Bryant, both of Lugoff; brother, Leon F. Morgan of New Hall, Calif.; and sister, Peggy M. Finley of Eureka, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Bruffey Vestal.
