CAMDEN- Funeral service for Mary Jane Stewart Carraway, 91, will be held Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Atkerson will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1643 McRae Road, Camden, S.C. Mrs. Carraway, wife of the late Melvin A. Carraway, died Monday, August 24, 2009. Born in Darlington County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John Harmon Stewart and Dessie Arrants Stewart. She retired from Hermitage Mill after 36 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Group. She was also a member of Woodmen of the World. Surviving are her sons, Junius L. Carraway, Andrew L. Carraway, and Homer S. (Betty) Carraway; daughter, Jeri C. (Michael) Thompson; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Glen D. Carraway; daughters, Margaret L. Carraway, and Lois C. Trapp; brothers, John Ire Stewart, A.J. Stewart, Henry Stewart, and Joe H. Stewart; sister, Hattie Estell Kelley; and 2 grandchildren.
