Obituary of Jack Madison Hastings
ELGIN - A memorial service for Jack Madison Hastings, 71, will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Rowan Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Rowan Presbyterian Church Music Ministry.
Mr. Hastings died Sunday, March 25, 2007. Born in Forsyth County, N.C., he was the son of the late Melvin Madison and Willie Mae Sechrest Hastings. He served in the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis. A graduate of the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, he was a systems analyst with Policy Management Systems. He was a former member of the Camden High Steppers and the Camden Community Concert Band, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time at the beach.
Mr. Hastings was a member of Rowan Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Doris Ann Honeycutt Hastings; daughters, Laura H. Smith, Diane H. Lundy, and Jackie H. Snell; son, Mark M. Hastings; sisters, Ellen H. Chinburg, and Delphine H. Kincaid; and grandchildren, Julia Smith, Karen Smith, Meredith Hastings, Connor Hastings, and Rachel Snell.
