Obituary of Gene Criminger
CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Linzy Eugene Criminger, 74, will be held Monday at 4:00 pm at St. John’s United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Mims will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 45 Roseborough Road, Lugoff, SC, 29078 or AGAPE Hospice, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC, 29210.
Mr. Criminger died Friday, May 10, 2013. Born in Elberton, Ga., He was the son of the late Horace Linzy and Bobbie Gaines Criminger. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher in the Baptist Church. He served as a Scout Master for many years. He was a member of the Society of Mfg. Engineers. He was an instructor with Sumter, Florence-Darlington, and Northeastern Technical Schools.
Mr. Criminger was a talented artist and wood carver. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. His most treasured times were being a Papa to his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Carol Coward Criminger; son, Greg Criminger (Shawna) of Elgin, S.C; sister, Lane Garity of Camden; brother-in-law, William “Sam” Coward Jr.; sister-in-law, Julie Coward DeStefano; and grandchildren, Blake, Sam, and Riley, and nieces and nephews.
