ELGIN - Funeral service for Gwendolyn Hall Barfield, 85, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in the Old Sawneys Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Evan Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church or St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Camden. Mrs. Barfield, wife of the late Eugene J. Barfield, died Friday, April 24, 2009. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Major J. and Ethel Ruth Browder Hall. She was a graduate of Olympia High School and was an Olympia Alumni. She was a former member of Gethseme Lutheran Church and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Buddy Jeffers of Elgin; brother, Jack M. Hall and his wife, Rose; sister, Betty Brasington Hall; granddaughter, Pamela Jeffers Grigsby and her husband, Darrell; grandsons, Christopher Grigsby and his wife, Sarah, Matthew Grigsby and his wife, Kelly, and Dylan Grigsby; great-grandchildren, Chayce, Savannah, Christopher, Jr., Caroline, and Maverick Grigsby; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, James Hall; and sisters, Mildred H. Welch, Dorothy H. Boan, Faye Hall.
