Obituary of Walker Douglas Coleman
LUGOFF - Funeral service with military honors for MSGT Walker Douglas Coleman, U.S. Air Force (Ret’d), 65, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Ken Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Coleman died Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Born in Mullins, S.C., he was a son of the late Jeff and Fodie Perritt Martin Coleman. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He served as a Municipal Court Judge in Elgin for 6 years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Mr. Coleman was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and enjoyed singing and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Satterfield Coleman; children, Douglas T. Coleman of St. Louis, Missouri, Dawn Wisnasky of Mascoutah, Ill, and Dianna (Jason) Van-Eton of O’Fallon, Ill.; step-children, David Jordan of West Columbia, Jeremy Smith of Columbia, and Mike Smith of Ridgeway; sister, E.L. Marty Monroe (Ron) of West Columbia; grandchildren, Danielle and Dustin Wisnasky, and Dallas Van-Eton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Hershel, George, Maxie, S.J., and Charlie Martin; and sister, Elizabeth Porter.
