Obituary of Rogers Ervin Brock

LUGOFF - Funeral service with military honors for Lt. Col. Rogers E. Brock, Jr., U.S. Army National Guard (Ret’d), 78 will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Rev. John Mims and Rev. Barbee Parsons will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 9:00 -10:30 a.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Epworth’s Children’s Home or the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter. Mr. Brock died Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he was a son of the late Rogers Ervin Brock, Sr. and Sara Quinn Brock. He attended the University of South Carolina and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army National Guard after 35 years of service. He also retired from DuPont where he worked for 41 years. Mr. Brock was a member of the Military Officers Association, the National Guard Association of South Carolina, and the American Legion. He was a member of the Kershaw County Forest Land Owners and South Carolina Forestry Association and enjoyed tree farming. Mr. Brock was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and the Golden Hearts. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Joan Kirby Brock; son, Roger Dorland “Skipper” Brock of Clemson, S.C.; and sister, Maxine Funderburk Miles of Bethany, Missouri.
