ELGIN-Funeral service for Ronnie Humphries, 51, will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Old Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 14605 State Highway 34 E Ridgeway, SC 29130. Rev. Evan Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Humphries died Thursday, March 19, 2009. Born in Winnsboro, he was a son of Mary Louise Bradley Prevatte and the late George Humphries, Jr. He was a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School and employed with Southeastern Freight Line. He loved fishing, hunting, riding his motor cycle and spending time with good friends and family. Mr. Humphries was a member of Sawneys Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his mother, Mary Prevatte of Ridgeway; sons, Michael Humphries and Tyler Humphries of Lugoff; sister, Elizabeth Clements of Ridgeway; and brothers, Ronald Humphries of Camden and Dewitt Humphries of Lugoff. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony W. “Skeet” Humphries.
