Obituary of Jack Eldridge Davis
LUGOFF-Funeral service for Jack Eldridge Davis, 82, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Hermitage Baptist Church, Camden with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Condy Richardson will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
Mr. Davis died Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Born on March 29, 1926 in Camden, he was a son of the late Clennie Eldridge Davis and Zada Shirley Davis Morris. A graduate of Camden High School Class of 1943, he served in the United States Navy during WW II.
Mr. Davis attended the University of South Carolina from 1946-1949 and retired from DuPont after 36 years. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend who will always be missed but never forgotten.
Surviving are his beloved wife, of 59 years, Aline Watts Davis; son, Kenneth Edwin Davis and his wife, Nancy of Mauldin, S.C.; daughters, Ann Davis Gennett and her husband, Nicholas of Salisbury, N.C. and Jackie Davis Niedringhaus and her husband, Donald of Rock Hill, S.C.; brothers, Richard S. Davis of Greensboro, Fla. and Wayne D. Davis of Jackson, Ga.; grandchildren, Melissa Davis Kidd, Lauren Cox Frye, Brian Edwin Davis, Geoffrey Winston Cox, Rebecca Davis Yost, Steven Davis Niedringhaus, Kevin Donald Niedringhaus; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Kidd, Caroline Kidd, and William Yost. He was predeceased by brothers, Kinard Davis, C.E. Davis, Jr., Ted Davis, and Malcolm Davis.
