ELGIN - Graveside service for Herman A. Brazell, 87, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Daniel Flessas will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6- 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66, Elgin, S.C., 29045. Mr. Brazell died Monday, March 2, 2009. Born in Blaney, he was a son of the late Dewey M. and Carrie Berley Brazell. Mr. Brazell served in the United States Army Air Corps and retired from DuPont where he was a maintenance supervisor. He was a life long member of Salem United Methodist Church of Elgin. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marvia Mattox Brazell; daughters, Pamela (Bob) Johnson, and Patricia (Frank) Nelson all of Elgin; sister, Ida Mae Brown of Elgin; sister-in-law, Fern Brazell of Davidson, N.C.; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Dewey Edward Brazell.
