LUGOFF- A memorial service for Richard Eric Brown will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Camden First Baptist Church with visitation in the church fellowship hall from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. Eric died on Thursday, February 12, 2009. He was the son of the late Jake Alexander Brown, Mrs. Margaret Brown Latimer and the stepson of Lewis Latimer. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Camden High, attended Furman University and the University of South Carolina. A life long member of Camden First Baptist Church, he served as a worker in the pre school Sunday school for over 40 years. He was a member of the Sanctuary Choir serving as a narrator, a soloist, and a member of the male quartet. He also played with the Hand Bell Choir. Mr. Brown devoted many hours at the Kershaw County Fine Arts Center. In 2004 he was chosen as volunteer of the year. He is survived by his wife, Becky Milling Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Rob Artlip of Lugoff; a granddaughter, Mari Elizabeth Artlip; step-grandsons, Blake and Tyler Artlip all of Lugoff, mother of West Columbia; a brother, Chip Latimer; and a sister, Margaret Blackhurst of West Columbia.
