Obituary of Mildred H. Maness
LUGOFF-Funeral service for Mildred H. Maness, 70, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden. Rev.
Dr. C. Bruce Watford and Rev. Homer Hinson will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Crossway Church, 437 Hwy 601 South, Lugoff, S.C., 29078.
Mrs. Maness died Thursday, January 29, 2009. Born in Lee County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Charlie J. and Estelle Hopkins Hinson. She was a 1956 graduate of Antioch High School and retired from Standard Warehouse. She was a member of Crossway Church in Lugoff, where she was the church secretary. She was a member of the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Maness was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed bowling. She was a host mother for Foreign Exchange students.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, George Maness of Lugoff; sons, George A. (Kathy) Maness, Brian F. Maness, and Gregory G. Maness all of Lugoff; daughter, Pamela L. Maness of Lexington, S.C.; brothers, William (Alfreda) Hinson of Sheboygan, Wis., Wilburn (Carolyn) Hinson of Burgaw, N.C., Charlie L. (Betty) Hinson of Lugoff, and Rev. Homer (Peggy) Hinson of Hartsville, S.C.; grandsons, Ron N. Sowell and P. Brad Sowell both from Kershaw, S.C.; granddaughter, Cori Maness-Mulder of Lugoff; and numerous nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Alice McCaskill.
