ELGIN- Funeral service with military honors for Norris Vick Sr., 79, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Mr. Vick died Friday, January 23, 2009. Born in Beaufort, N.C., he was a son of the late James Henry and Sudie Campbell Vick. He retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Vick also retired from the South Carolina Department of Correction after 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the VFW. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie “Snookie” Vick; sons, Vincent Vick of Elgin, Norris Vick Jr. of Spartanburg, and David Vick of Elgin; granddaughter, Ashley Vick of Elgin; loving sister-in-law, Evelyn Vick Webster of Washington, N.C. He was predeceased by brothers, Willie Vick, Luther Vick, James Vick, Johnny Vick; and sister, Eliza Silverthorne. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
