KERSHAW - Funeral service for Lee Vander Bass, 82, will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church, Cassatt, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Donald Barrett, Rev. Keith Hicks, and Rev. George Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Mr. Bass died Friday, January 2, 2009. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Redden and Arrie Kitchens Bass. He attended House of Prayer with Open Arms Church and loved playing and singing gospel music with the Bass Family. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Sarah Ann Bass; son, Dewey (Wendy) Bass; daughters, Brenda (Tonya Heriot) Bass, and Renee Bass (Richard) Jones; brother, Lewis Bass of Waterloo, S.C.; sisters, Billy (James) Banks of Bethune, Marylee Rubie of Cassatt, and Betty Seegars Hester of Newberry; and grandchildren, Randy Lee Bass, Kayla Bass, Makenzie Green, James Jones, Brandon Jones, and Samantha Jones. He was predeceased by 3 sons; a daughter; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.
