LUGOFF – A time of gathering for Mr. Robert Franklin Meshach, 77, will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 pm. at Powers Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Newbaker Funeral Home in Blairstown, N.J. The family will receive friends Friday 3:00-5:00 p.m. prior to the service at Newbaker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020 or First Presbyterian Church in Blairstown, N.J. Mr. Meshach, husband of the late Ruth G. Blunt Meshach, died Sunday, April 21, 2013. Born in Blairstown, N.J., he was the son of the late William E. and Rosie O. Lance Meshach. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Blairstown since 1958. He was a member of OOIDA, NRA and several antique tractor pulling clubs. He was a Little League and Babe Ruth League baseball coach and was instrumental in securing the original Little League Charter in Blairstown while he was president of the Blairstown Athletic Association. He was an umpire for the National Association of Umpires. In the 1950’s -1970’s, he raced stock cars at many local tracks. He drove trucks since 1962 and was an owner/operator from 1972-2003. Surviving are his sons, Joseph R. Meshach of Walterboro and Ernest B. Meshach of Elgin; grandchildren, Joshua, Hanna, Abbie, Zeke, and Jennifer Meshach; step-grandchildren, Emerson Felton; brothers, Donald, Marvin and Richard Meshach all of Columbia, N.J.; sisters, Lena Keyser of Florida, Shirley Carr of Blairstown, N.J. and Linda Meshach of Columbia, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Meshach; and sister, Hazel Shipps.
