CAMDEN – Funeral service for Rachel Carter, 75, will be held on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Tabernacle with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Christian Fellowship Tabernacle. Ms. Carter passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Rebecca Wiley Carter. She graduated from Jackson High School and moved to New York where she worked for New York Telephone known as Verizon today. After returning to Camden, she worked for Kids Care in Lugoff. Ms. Carter was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Tabernacle in Camden where she was involved in Women's Enlightenment, served as a missionary and was a former usher. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and painting. Surviving are son, Anthony M. Carter of Greenville, S.C.; daughters, Vanessa Porter (Lester) of Grovetown, GA and Sabrina Carter of Jersey City, N.J.; sisters, Georgiana Jefferys, Betty Ann Brooks (Ben), Ethel Miller, Willene Senior, Gracie Maxey, Brenda Washington and Lynda Dennis. She was predeceased by sisters, Rosa Lee Kershaw and Eloise Pegues; and brothers, Alexander Carter and Edward Leroy Carter.
